How Much Does a Shed Cost to Build?
What drives shed and pole barn pricing in western Kentucky: size, foundation, doors, siding, insulation and site prep.

There is no honest single number — but there is a very clear list of things that move the price. Here is what to expect and where to spend.
Why we do not publish a price list
Two identical footprints can differ substantially in cost depending on foundation, wall height, door count and finish. Anyone quoting a firm number before seeing your site is guessing, and that guess usually grows later. We quote from the actual property.
The biggest cost drivers
Footprint and wall height come first — they scale everything. Foundation type is next: gravel, treated floor and concrete are three very different line items. Then doors and windows, siding and roof material, and finally interior finish such as insulation, liner panel, wiring and lighting.
Site preparation
Level, accessible ground is the cheapest scenario. Grading, fill, extended stone, tree removal, long material hauls and soft ground all add cost. A short site visit tells us far more than photos.
Where it pays to spend
Wall height, door size and a properly built pad. Those three are expensive to change later and cheap to upgrade now. Cosmetic upgrades can wait.
Where you can save
Stone instead of concrete when the use allows, standard panel colors, fewer window openings, and doing your own painting or shelving after the build.
Getting a real number
We provide written, itemized quotes: structure, foundation, doors, materials, site work and timeline. You can see exactly which line changes if you resize or reconfigure.
Common questions
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Quotes and site visits are free with no obligation.
Do you offer financing?
We can discuss options and payment schedules during the quote conversation.
Is it cheaper to buy a prefab shed?
Small prefabs can be cheaper up front, but they are limited in size, span and door height, and they are rarely built for the specific site.
